A surprising reality behind a superstitious story

Ariel, The Little Mermaid, was born in the prehistorical ocean, in the middle of the desert and was impotent of marine essentialities.

She asked her grandfather Poseidon that was still living in the depths to bring a singing shell, so she could listen to the ocean for the first time since she was curious of her family’s birthright.

He kindly brought a few shells to her on his next journey via seasonal rivers and random floods.

Ariel was ecstatic and rolled down the hill to meet her grandfather, the god of the oceans.

They sat next to the little muddy creek, as Poseidon needed to stay submerged.. and she prefered to stay on a dusty dry rock.

She was holding and observing the shells for the first time..

Her cheek bones were blushing with astonishment as she brought the shell closer to her ear.

“So, how do I listen to the ocean dear grandpa”
“Just take the hollow part of the shell and put it on top of your ear while closing your eyes”

Ariel was giggling and jumpy but held herself patiently for this special occasion..

As she was lifting the shell atop her ear, Poseidon was smiling and honored to introduce her to his beloved ocean, his life, to his dear Ariel.

Ariel facial expressions changed dramatically all of a sudden as the snail inside the shell spitted sandy water straight into her ear, upon sensing danger.

Poseidon was clapping in sheer enthusiasm and saying: “These are the songs I used to listen to in your age! How nice :) eh?”

Ariel gave him an awkward look and threw the shell away..

“How was the singing my sweet Little Mermaid?”

She turned away and never spoke another word about the ocean.
